Leadership Development Program

Reflecting virtues in your leadership

A team game in which astronauts take on a bold space mission. At every stage, you decide, discuss and reflect on the best leadership practices.

The six astronaut characters of Galactic Quest

Crew ready. Leader wanted.

The invitation

Learn through play. Leave with good questions.

By working playfully with the concepts that represent the essence of leadership, that is, the foundation for other theoretical models, this game leads you to analyze and decide on the best leadership practices, which, in this metaphor, reflect your relationship with your team.

If, after two intense days of work, you leave the meeting with a few questions about yourself as a leader and about your key assumptions in your relationship with the workplace and with people, we will already be glad of this reflective process, a gift you give yourself. Developing self-awareness matters far more than replicating models without the self-criticism needed to face the dilemmas of work and life.

It all starts with the good questions you ask yourself to become better than you are today, and about where you want to be some time from now. Believe it: as a leader who wants to grow, you can get there.

Come along! You are our guest to learn about leadership by “playing” and talking.

About us

Unipersonal Desenvolvimento & Associados

We are a consultancy founded in 1994. We started in executive search and training and, around 1998, began to focus exclusively on people development and management, putting all our effort and beliefs into it, with the health of organizations and the persistent pursuit of knowledge and applied research as our backdrop.

Our calling became sales and negotiation training, executive assessment and, gradually, team and leadership development.

Always looking for solutions and passionate about creative tools that add value to people management, Unipersonal launched its games division in early 2025, with a partner responsible for technology development. The first game in a series is Galactic Quest, an engaging metaphor that invites people to play with enthusiasm.

Mission, vision and values

More than a game

Galactic Quest is part of a leadership program based on human virtues, offered to companies, educational institutions and universities with postgraduate, MBA and master’s programs.

Mission

To contribute to the balanced integration of each person as an individual, employee and citizen, leading them to observe and review their attitudes and their own motivation in the learning process. We focus on self-knowledge and teamwork as the pillars of skilled, enthusiastic collaboration, with a systemic and integral view of values that support a basic philosophy of leadership.

Vision

To develop as many professionals as possible, in an ethical relationship that respects our principles as corporate education providers, guided by a collaborative business culture rather than a competitive one, which is often predatory, conflict-ridden and toxic.

Values

To build trust and purpose through an innovative methodology such as Galactic Quest, which can include other complementary methodologies according to each client’s needs and culture.

Integrity

We are partners committed to doing what is right for the genuine and sustainable development of people and organizations, with a purpose greater than profit alone. We responsibly deliver what we are hired to do and help build an environment of inclusion and engagement.

Corporate education

We are passionate about this field and its link to organizational culture. The PDL, our Leadership Development Program, of which Galactic Quest is part, invites constant reflection on a philosophy of leadership based on virtues.

Thoughts on edutainment

GQ · About the methodology

Want to transform training in your company?

It all begins when a group of astronauts is challenged to complete a bold space mission. The metaphor, which fills the imagination of millions of people around the world, embodies our goal of giving the leaders who play a provocative, stimulating, investigative and reflective learning experience.

Participants face situations that simulate everyday work, with challenges, decision-making, group dialogue and obstacles to overcome, in an environment that encourages reflection, teamwork and virtuous leadership. And time is short: there is no room to procrastinate; action has to happen.

Why does it work? Because it taps into our psychology. The feeling of achievement and reward releases dopamine, making learning more enjoyable and memorable. Employees do not just listen: they take an active part and see their progress in a clear, measurable way.

Let’s talk

A philosophy for other models

The backbone of leadership

Galactic Quest creates a concrete, intuitive starting point from which other leadership theories can be explored. As they play, leaders experience these five dynamics and reflect on their choices and consequences.

LEADER SELF-AWARENESS EMPATHY COMMUNICATION DECISION-MAKING RESILIENCE
Self-awarenessThe leader’s ability to understand their own emotions, values and biases.
EmpathyThe ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and understand their perspective.
CommunicationNot just speaking, but active listening and clarity in conveying ideas.
Decision-makingHow the leader analyzes information, weighs risks and takes responsibility for results.
ResilienceHow the leader deals with pressure, failure and change.

Connecting other theories at scheduled stops

With a solid foundation, other theories fit in along the journey, like branches of a great tree of leadership knowledge.

01Situational Leadership

Link to the gameLeadership is not one single model. In each challenge, the leader must adapt their approach.

How to expandAfter a stage of the game, the Hersey-Blanchard model is introduced. A task that required a more directive leader illustrates the ideal stance for beginner teams; a stage in which the leader gave more autonomy illustrates delegation for more mature teams.

02Transformational and Transactional Leadership

Link to the gameThere are moments when the leader inspires the team to go further (transformational) and moments when the focus is on meeting goals and earning rewards (transactional).

How to expandAfter a round in which the leader motivated the team with a vision of the future, transformational leadership is presented, highlighting inspiration and charisma. After a round focused on results and deadlines, transactional leadership is explained, along with when it works best.

03Emotional Intelligence

Link to the gameDaniel Goleman’s EI aligns with the self-awareness and empathy at the backbone of the game.

How to expandDuring “pause moments”, the screen shows an analysis of the player’s choices and explains how they reflect the five pillars of EI: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. The experience becomes a personal diagnosis.

04Nonviolent Communication

Link to the gameSince Galactic Quest deals with communication and conflict resolution, NVC connects naturally.

How to expandAfter a conflict situation in the game, the NVC framework is presented: observations, feelings, needs and requests. A practical tool for the real world.

05McGregor’s Theory X and Theory Y

Link to the gameThe theory points to two classic leadership positions, one humanistic and the other authoritarian. One or two coordinating astronauts with different positions can be chosen and their styles compared in light of the theory’s assumptions.

How to expandAt one of the stops, a space-life case among the astronauts is chosen, followed by a guided comparison and reflection in the context of the companies present, for example on which styles prevail in their culture.

06Peter Drucker

Link to the gameDrucker offers the objective, results-oriented structure; the virtues provide the leader’s moral and ethical compass.

How to expandThe practical issues of the space mission and how they are measured point to Drucker, while the virtues show up in the way each personality pursues the team’s results during the journey.

07Kouzes and Posner’s Leadership Practices

Link to the gameThe assumptions of James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner guide the practice of leading effectively and ethically.

How to expandGame situations are compared with these assumptions: leadership is a practice, not just a formal position; everyone can lead; leading is about making a difference; leading is a relationship of trust; leading requires commitment to values and principles. Leadership is open to everyone, built on conscious actions and solid relationships.

Before boarding

Tips for playing Galactic Quest

Be open to the idea

Set aside the idea that “training is boring”. See the activity as a chance to develop in a light, fun way.

Take an active part

Act as the protagonist and actively look for solutions in every challenge and mission.

Interact with your colleagues

It is a team game. Share ideas, help and be helped: learning becomes more collaborative.

Make the most of feedback

Scores, badges and rewards show the team’s performance. Use this information to understand your strengths and weaknesses.

Don’t play just to win

The goal is learning as a leader, not competition. Have fun and focus on gaining new skills.

The essential virtues

Every virtue happens through human connection

The basic premise of Galactic Quest’s gameplay is that every virtue, in practice, happens through human connection. The set of virtues shown here is part of the virtual game, run in person or online.

This is how virtues should be understood when we talk about leadership in the corporate world, in any reflection on the subject.
